With its pristine beaches, magical mountains, and green cover, Oman is a goldmine for moviemakers. I wouldn’t be surprised if more and more producers from India add Oman to their scheme of things. Nations like Switzerland, Malaysia, Thailand, and Singapore are going that extra mile to woo Indian moviemakers by doling out all kinds of sops. The list is growing by the day.
Even Dubai has joined the bandwagon. A report says:
Dubai is fast becoming an international hub for Bollywood films outside India for premieres and making of movies. Several Bollywood movies have been premiered in Dubai last year and the latest in the series was Kismat Konnection, which premiered three days ago.
Bollywood stars like Amitabh Bachchan, Shahrukh Khan or Salman Khan is a household name not only for the Indians but also for the Arabic speaking people. “Dubai has a big Indian expatriate community. But Bollywood films are popular among the Arab-speaking people as well. This makes Dubai is a perfect overseas venue for Bollywood premieres,” says Aziz Mirza, director of Kismat Konnection, which premiered in Dubai three days ago.
If the ‘concrete’ Dubai can pull it off, why not the ‘blessed’ Oman? With more infrastructure facilities for movie making at their disposal, Oman can be crowned as the most sought after destination.
