On a pleasant December evening we decided to try out a restaurant at Seeb Mall in Seeb Souk which has been on our list for quite some time. The restaurant, of course, is Qibara which has been getting glowing reviews from diners in recent times.

A destination for quality dining, Qibara offers a menu which takes inspiration from around the world. Although the focus is on Omani and Arabic dishes, it doesn’t disappoint the dynamic, seasoned and well-travelled palates. Imaginatively prepared and artistically presented, the Arabic, Indian, Italian and French-inspired cuisines impress the taste buds thoroughly.

The food made with locally sourced ingredients and spices does add to the attraction.

Grills, shawaramas, breads, rice items, curries, pastas, pizzas, sandwiches, fruit juices and cocktails are part of the menu. Whether it is seafood fans, red meat enthusiasts or the true blue vegetarians, there is something for everyone here.

The Omani vintage-architecture inspired interiors exude an old-world charm and is heavily reminiscent of the past with Oman’s old photographs and classic posters. Interesting tableware and nice-looking cutlery add to the exquisiteness of the delectable food served at the 90-seater restaurant.

For starters, we had Creamy chicken soup served in a bread bowl, Golden Fried Prawns with soya and chili dip and Tandoori Chicken Salad with avocado and yogurt dressing. The soup was the best we have had in a while. Delectable prawns and salad were made more interesting when had with freshly made watermelon and lemon-mint mojitos.

We ordered Tandoori Chicken Wrap (with Romaine and Cheddar cheese, served with onion and tomato salsa), Slow Cooked Chicken Breast (Served with baby carrots, french beans, pommes with a morel mushroom sauce) and Grilled Catch of the Day (King fish slice served with vegetable quinoa, garlic, broccoli and sauce) for main course.

For desserts, they served us Christmas cake slice and Nutty Chocolate Sphere.

Qibara, which means bountiful in Arabic, is truly about plentiful. Delectable food and outstanding service – you can experience all this in abundance. Hope they continue delighting diners in the years to come.

Our road trip of nearly 1.5 hours both ways to reach the restaurant from Ruwi was totally worth it. The restaurant can be reached at 9191 9255.
